Troubleshooting
What to do when something goes wrong during a game.
By default the question text appears only on the host screen — it is meant for a projector or a shared display. If you don't have one, turn on the question on players' devices: during the game click the gear icon in the bottom-right corner and enable "Show questions".
You can set this ahead of time, in the lobby, before the game starts. The choice is remembered in your browser, so you don't have to set it every lesson.
Open the question in the editor and set the number of seconds in the "Question settings" panel on the right. The same panel lets you apply one time limit to every question in the quiz at once.
Values range from 5 to 180 seconds. 180 is the platform's technical maximum — it can't go higher.
Check in order: the PIN is typed correctly and visible to everyone in the room; the session is still running — the PIN stops working the moment it ends; the lobby isn't locked (the padlock next to the PIN closes it to new players).
If the message says the session is full, you've hit your plan's participant limit — see the FAQ for the numbers. A nickname can also be rejected if it's flagged as inappropriate: ask the player to enter a different one.
The game pauses automatically and a reconnect dialog appears with a countdown — you have 60 seconds to get back.
Do not reload or close the page: if you miss the window the game ends automatically and can't be resumed. Just wait for the network to come back and click "Reconnect". Players don't need to do anything meanwhile — they stay on their screens.
The app retries the connection a few times on its own; if that fails, the player sees a "Reconnect" button.
If the tab was closed entirely, they should open quaize.ru/join again and enter the same PIN and the same nickname — their answers and points are kept. A new nickname creates a new participant starting from zero.
First try recovering the session from the host side: if the connection dropped, the game is paused and resumes once you reconnect.
If it really is stuck, write to us with: which question or screen it happened on, how many participants there were, what devices they were playing from, and whether it froze for everyone at once or only some. A screenshot taken at that moment helps most — without these details the failure is almost impossible to reproduce.
This is deliberate, not a bug: a name stays in the list after someone picks it, because the room may contain genuine namesakes and a group won't hold two identical entries.
If you need everyone to pick themselves unambiguously, add something distinguishing to the roster — a surname, initials, or any identifier instead of the name.
That's intended. A player's position shows on every question type, including the ungraded ones: the platform was built for testing knowledge, and the leaderboard runs through the whole game.
The answers to Poll and Word cloud themselves don't affect the score and award no points — only what's displayed on screen changes.
A correct answer is worth up to 1000 points, scaled by speed: the faster the answer, the more points. That's why two people with the same number of correct answers almost always end on different totals. A run of correct answers in a row adds a streak bonus, while a wrong answer or a timeout gives 0.
If the numbers still look odd, check in the editor that the correct options are actually marked as correct. The full formula is in Game rules.
